    Fire Service Station

Quick access to emergency spots is critical for Fire Service. Currently, most of them deal with a paper-driven system of handbooks, map books, and neighborhood data that is not always up to date or organized for quick access. An additional problem is that the fire stations have tremendous amount of data at their fingertips, but never employ them efficiently.
The previously used conventional methods were difficult, time-consuming and causing great loss to life and property. A comprehensive approach to these problems is available through the recent trends of Geographical Information System and Remote Sensing. GIS, a powerful tool for the compilation, management and display data associated with geographic space, is used for the preparation of digital maps and analysis purposes. Remote Sensing is a technology for sampling radiation to interpret geo-spatial data to develop information about object on the earth land surface, oceans and atmosphere. The integration of GIS and Remote Sensing can help overcome these problems.
This project aims in finding the zone of an area which falls within the limits of 't' minutes reach assuming the fire station as the center and also to find an optimal route based on the time criteria as this is important for emergency services. The value of 't' will be decided by the decision-maker. The study area lies between longitude 80° 10’ 00” E to 80° 16’ 30”E and the latitude 13° 08’ 00”N to 12° 07’ 00” N
The factors considered mainly relate to the number of lanes, traffic volume in the roads, the road network and the details of the fire station. These factors were incorporated into a single tool which integrates instantly the information necessary to answer the emergency calls with speed, knowledge and confidence. With this application running on computers, fire personnel can have a visual perspective of the incident site, routing directions, and the data required to arrive on the scene.
